Palm Squirrels are common in open and lightly wooded areas in Goa. They mainly forage on the ground, searching for seeds, nuts, flowers, insects and grubs. Their fondness of the nectar produced by the silky oak results in them getting liberally covered in pollen, thus aiding pollination when they visit the next tree.
It is widespread and common in most of the wetland areas of South America, and is generally found in small family groups of about 20 individuals.
